My summer dress is finally complete…. Yay! I LOVE IT. It was made using New Look 6094. The cotton lawn fabric was bought from Mandors in Edinburgh. It’s got great twirlability!!! And oh so important pockets.
Well, next I will be making two patterns from Colette. The peony dress and the macaron dress but I’m not sure in which order. If anyone hasn’t already heard of Colette patterns then you don’t know what your missing!! They offer a gorgeous range of patterns and a fantastic handbook. For any beginner sewists I think they are great patterns as they are very clear and easy to follow. You can also access the coletterie which is their blog that has tons of helpful and useful information, step by step tutorials and even a couple of FREE patterns. I think I am obsessed with them…aargh!!
For the peony I have bottle green fabric and mustard colour for the cummerbund belt.
For the macaron dress I have red with white pin dot fabric and a white contrast fabric.
I’m so excited about making these.
I absolutely love this tutorial from Caitlin at Colette patterns on how to add vintage detail to your garments. I thought that this kind of detail would look beautiful on my peony dress in the mustard contrast but I’m not sure that my sewing skills are quite at that level yet. But who knows maybe I will feel adventurous when the day comes.

Ok I’ve been really rubbish at blogging the last couple of weeks!!! Sorry. Unfortunately I have a ‘real’ job aswell that pays our bills and have needed to focus on that the last couple of weeks.
So, whilst iv been away from blog land I have been nominated for the ‘versatile blogger award’ by the lovely a girl in winter. I am so flattered that I don’t even know you and you like my blog… Well I can tell you the feeling is mutual. I will formally accept this award in a later post very soon.
Whilst I have not been on here, I have still been lusting over patterns and fabrics as usual!!
I started working on my Colette patterns meringue skirt and violet blouse. Almost finished photos coming soon.
Next on the agenda is the peony dress.
The macaron dress
And lastly a project that may take me a while as a novice, the Ceylon dress. I am thinking navy pin dot fabric with red piping…, ooh I’m very excited about this.
Ive also finished my summer dress but have no pictures yet so will show you soon. It turned out gorgeous, I love it.
So… True to my word. The pledge I made. I have started on my summer wardrobe. I recently found Colette Patterns. An American pattern designer combining vintage with modern. Whats even better is they offer a couple of FREE patterns!! One of the free patterns is the Sorbetto Top. Simple and beautiful. To get the pattern I had to print off 20pages then piece them together. The test square should measure 4×4″ but I couldn’t get it to print to the right size, it kept printing off 3.75×3.75″. I soon gave up and just used the pattern at the wrong measurements. When cutting the pattern I just went up a size and it turned out fine .
So here’s the one I made. I love it. It’s such an easy to to wear and could go with anything. I’m defiantly going to be making these in a range of colours.
I will model later to show it on
Mums going on holiday next week so making some sorbettos for her too. Heres one I’ve nearly finished just to add a bit binding.
Just a quick one today as iv loads to do!! Speak soon.
